If there is one thing you can be sure of, your story isn’t over. How do I know that? Because you’re here reading this blog. You’re alive, and that means God’s story for your life isn’t complete. There is more for you to experience, more encouragement to share.
I’m not sure why the past year’s events have taken place and continue to linger, but I know God isn’t surprised by them. He has a plan and purpose. The Bible tells us in Romans 8:28 that “all things work together for good to them that love God.”
Beautifully Written
God has written my story more beautifully than I ever could have. The version I was attempting to write didn’t include a significant medical crisis, almost taking my life. It also didn’t involve losing our business and locking ourselves away from family and friends.
However, I have a lovely Father who knows what’s best for me. I can’t allow myself to rebel against his plans when I think mine would be better. My ways have repeatedly let me down and led me astray. I have to trust the plans that have been laid before me.
My thoughts are not your thoughts; neither are your ways my ways, ” declares the LORD. “As the heavens are higher than the earth, so are my ways higher than your ways and my thoughts than your thoughts.” Isaiah 55:8-9
A Great Adventure
Can I encourage you to stop trying to write your own story and quit attempting to erase the parts you don’t like? Pick up the story God has already weaved your life throughout. He knows how the book ends. Allow him to guide you along the journey to get there to the final chapter. He has a great adventure waiting for you!
Let Others Hear Your Story
Allow yourself to be vulnerable, be courageous! Whatever it takes, don’t be afraid to let others hear your story.
Don’t assume what is happening in your life doesn’t touch those around you. That’s not the case at all. Your life can be what helps another through a difficult situation. Or maybe you can guide someone to find their calling.
We are part of an eternal plan, put here for a purpose.
Your Purpose
Have you discovered your purpose? If not, that’s okay. Keep reading your story. You’ll find it. It may appear in an aha moment, or maybe it will surprise you as mine did. But I can guarantee if you are reading intently, it will become clear.
If you’re wondering whether God still has a plan for you, the answer is an emphatic YES, He does!
“For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.” Jeremiah 29:11
Completion
You may feel stuck in a world of endless isolation and fear. You may feel trapped by chronic pain or fatigue. You may feel burdened by financial stress. You may feel like sorrow is unending, and loneliness is forever. You may feel like your prayers are going nowhere.
Read the words Paul wrote in Philippians 1:6.
“I am sure of this, that He who started a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.”
Even if you can’t see the ending yet, God has written your story to completion.
Have Hope
Stay in the fight. Pray through the pain. Fend off resentment with repentance. Cling to His promises. Have hope. Ask God to guide you through your story, and then let Him complete the work He has begun in you.
